Sis, each of us has been meticulously crafted by the hands of our Creator God, designed with a distinct purpose and calling that's as unique as our fingerprints. The tapestry of life, filled with its ebbs and flows, often leaves us in contemplation, searching the horizons of our souls and seeking the path carved out for us.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of our daily routines, enveloped by our fears and uncertainties, a haunting question often lingers: When is the right moment to step forth and embrace our God-given purpose? This question is not just about a career or a hobby, but about an inner calling that aligns our passions, talents, and the divine blueprint God has set for us.

My aim for this blog is to shed light on understanding God's timing, overcoming our apprehensions, and providing actionable steps to guide you toward unveiling and pursuing your God-inspired purpose with unwavering faith.

Let’s dive in!

Understanding God's Timing

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” ~Ecclesiastes 3:1

Our journey with God is a tapestry of seasons. While it may feel comfortable to linger in a particular phase, God is consistently urging us toward growth and new horizons. It's essential to discern and embrace His timing, trusting that He knows best.

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” - 2 Peter 3:8

God's understanding of time transcends our own. Just as Sarah laughed at the idea of bearing a child in her old age, she later bore Isaac, demonstrating that God’s promises are not confined to our human timelines. Sarah's life illustrates that while we might think the hour has passed or feel that the clock is ticking against us, God’s timing is always perfect, making the impossible possible.

Reflect on the story of Joseph, who went from being sold into slavery by his brothers to being a prisoner in Egypt, and eventually rising to be the second most powerful man in a vast empire. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” ~ Genesis 50:20. Joseph's journey wasn’t easy, but it was divinely timed. It took years of hardship, learning, and growth to prepare him for the grand purpose God had in mind.

Then, there's the narrative of Moses, who, after spending 40 years in the wilderness, was called by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses might have thought his prime years were behind him, but God had a different timeline in mind. “The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” - Lamentations 3:22-23. These verses remind us that each dawn brings fresh mercies from God, indicating that it's never too late for Him to use us powerfully.

In our personal lives, too, we see these divine timings play out. Perhaps you've prayed for a job, a life partner, or a breakthrough for years. Maybe a friend received their answer swiftly, while you're still waiting. It's easy to feel disheartened. But remember, just like a gardener knows when to plant and when to harvest, our Father knows precisely when to move in our lives. Our role is to trust in His divine timeline and prepare our hearts for the season ahead. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” - Proverbs 3:5. Trust that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion in His perfect time.

Facing Our Fears

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” - 2 Timothy 1:7

In my 30+ years of walking with God, I’ve learned that fear is a tool that the enemy uses to keep us from walking in our purpose. Recognize it for what it is: a barrier, not a truth. With God on our side, what or whom shall we fear?

In the Book of Exodus, Moses was called by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Despite witnessing the burning bush and hearing God's voice directly, Moses was initially resistant, fearing that he wasn't eloquent enough and that the people wouldn't believe him. "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” - Exodus 4:10. Yet, God reassured him and equipped him. Through this divine support, Moses confronted Pharaoh, led the Israelites out of bondage, and changed the course of history.

Consider the story of Esther, a Jewish girl who became the queen of Persia. When her people were threatened with extermination, she initially hesitated to act because approaching the king without an invitation could result in her death. But, reminded that she might have been placed in her position "for such a time as this," she bravely faced her fears, approached the king, and saved her people. “And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” - Esther 4:14.

David, a young shepherd, faced the giant Goliath when the entire Israelite army was paralyzed by fear. Without the conventional armor or weapons, armed only with his faith in God and a sling, he defeated the giant, proclaiming, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” - 1 Samuel 17:37.

Drawing from personal experiences, many of us have been through times when fear nearly crippled our steps. Maybe it was the fear of starting a new business, moving to a new city, or even speaking up in a room full of strangers. But when we took that step of faith, relying on God's strength, doors we never imagined opened for us.

So, Sis, fear will always try to find its way into your heart, especially when you're on the brink of stepping into your divine purpose. Yet, as scripture reminds us, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~Isaiah 41:10. With this promise, we can boldly confront our fears, knowing that we're not facing them alone.

Five Practical Action Steps to Walk in Your Purpose Today

Walking in God's purpose isn't a destination, but a continuous journey of growth, discovery, and faith. Yet, as with any expedition, there are practical steps we can take to ensure we're moving in the right direction, keeping our spiritual compass aligned with God's will. Here are five actionable steps that will not only bolster your connection with God but also provide clarity and momentum as you navigate the path He's laid out for you. Embrace these practices as part of your daily walk, and witness how they transform your spiritual journey.

1. Daily Devotion: Setting aside time for daily devotion is like nourishing your soul with spiritual food. Just as our physical bodies require sustenance to function optimally, our spirits need the Word of God to thrive. Diving into scripture daily not only provides insight and understanding but also builds a firm foundation in faith. As we allow the scriptures to guide, comfort, and challenge us, we draw closer to God's heart and cultivate a deeper understanding of His purpose for our lives.

2. Seek Wise Counsel: As the adage goes, "iron sharpens iron." Surrounding yourself with godly mentors, Christian life coaches, and advisors offers perspective, wisdom, and accountability. These individuals, through their experiences and walk with God, can provide invaluable guidance, especially in times of uncertainty or spiritual drought. As Proverbs 11:14 states, in the multitude of counselors, there's safety. Having such wise voices in your life can prevent missteps and ensure you're walking aligned with God's will.

3. Pray Continually: Prayer is our direct communication line to God. It's where we present our joys, concerns, desires, and fears. By praying without ceasing, we foster a constant awareness of God's presence in our lives. This continual dialogue strengthens our relationship with Him, keeps our spirit attuned to His voice, and reminds us that He is ever-present, guiding each step of our journey. The command in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 encourages us not just to pray, but to give thanks in every circumstance, acknowledging God's hand in everything.

4. Step Out in Faith: Faith is believing in the unseen, trusting that God is orchestrating everything for our good. Taking a step, even when the entire path isn't visible, demonstrates our trust in God's plan. Remember, every monumental journey starts with a single step. By stepping out in faith, you're allowing God to lead, confident that even if you face challenges or setbacks, He is using each experience to mold, refine, and direct you closer to your divine purpose.

5. Embrace Community: We were never meant to walk our faith journey alone. Engaging in a community, especially with like-minded believers, provides support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Joining women's bible study groups or church activities not only fosters spiritual growth but creates bonds with fellow believers who can walk beside you, uplift you, and challenge you in your faith journey. These connections are essential for accountability, growth, and mutual edification.

Sis, embracing these five steps is not just about personal spiritual growth, but about anchoring oneself in the midst of life's storms and uncertainties. Each step serves as a beacon, illuminating the path when shadows of doubt or fear threaten to obscure your way. For every woman reading this, know that your purpose is divine, unique, and crucial in the grand tapestry of God's plan. By incorporating these practices into your daily life, you fortify your faith, ensuring that you're not merely wandering, but walking purposefully, hand in hand with God, towards the destiny He has lovingly crafted just for you.
